C.L. Wilson's - Tairen Soul's Series - Featured August 25, 2009
When I first began to write the story of Rain and Ellysetta, I wanted to combine my two favorite genres: fantasy and romance. I didn't realize when I started what a considerable undertaking my idea would become, but once I dove into the world, and into the characters, they really took over. My initial vision of one book expanded to the concept of a trilogy, but since I tend to write books of a length editors refer to as "bug crunchers," that trilogy has since morphed into a five-book series.
In this series, I've been able to indulge my passion for worldbuilding, my love of magical stories, and my lifelong love affair with romance. I wanted to create a world and a story filled with characters people could care about and root for (or against, as the case may be). I wanted to write a books that would work as entertaining reads for both fantasy and romance readers. Since the release of the first book, Lord of the Fading Lands, I've received thousands of emails and letters from readers, but some of the most rewarding of all are the letters that begin "I don't read romance, but..." or "I don't read fantasy, but..." and then go on to say how they enjoyed Rain and Ellie's story nonetheless. Because when I get letters like that, I know that, for those readers at least, I have succeeded in writing books that transcend genre. Thank you to everyone who has picked up a C.L. Wilson books, and special thanks to those readers who have taken the time to write to me. I appreciate your support and kind words more than I can ever say.
