Heather Graham - August 24, 2010
Special note from New York Times Bestselling author, Heather Graham (The Flynn Brothers Trilogy, Edge of Darkness, The Bone Island Trilogy,) will again be hosting her Writers for New Orleans Workshop held at the Hotel Monteleone in New Orleans, Louisiana.September 3 - 5, authors from across the U.S. will again hold panels on the craft of writing. J. A. Konrath, and L.A. Banks will speak during a scrumptious breakfast buffet, which is just one of the meals included during this fun and learning weekend. All genres are included. Writers for New Orleans was started the year following the season of storms to bring people to the city of New Orleans, and is a total benefit created out of love for NOLA, with funds garnered from raffles going to the regional library foundation.
"So many writers use New Orleans for the setting in their stories; there is no like an author so willing to give back,"according to Ms. Graham.
If it's not possible to stay at the hotel for the entire weekend, anyone can attend the panel sessions on Friday and Saturday. Outstanding authors, F. Paul Wilson, Harley Jane Kozak, Alexandra Sokoloff, and Kayla Perrin are just a few who will be in attendance.
Friday panels are followed by a welcome party hosted by Katy Love and F. Paul Wilson at the Krazy Korner on Bourbon Street, combining New Orleans jazz with socializing with old friends and new. The evening's "A Night with the Stars" is hosted by Helen A. Rosburg, CEO of Medallion Press and will be held at The Stage Canteen in the World War II Museum. People can come in costume as their favorite movie star or movie character. Lots of delicious food by famous chef John Besh and entertainment by our Master of Ceremonies, Scott Allen Perry.
Heather Graham and the Slush Pile Players host a fun and lively interactive dinner show on Saturday night where attendees will be invited to join on in. This year's theme is Masquerade. Think Venice, Carnival in Rio and our very own Mardi Gras right here in New Orleans. Attendees can wear lavish ball gowns, Brazilian or Trinidadian island tropic apparel, or whatever their imagination brings.
Sunday morning begins with our traditional "tea," a chat with Internet maven Sarah Wendell and author Kayla Perrin, and the presentation of the "Duffy" award for excellence, bestowed by Alice Duffy in her daughter's honor. It is also the day of our bookfair which will be held in the LaNouvelle New Orleans West room in the Hotel Monteleone. Come in to meet all of the authors attending the workshop. They will be selling and signing their newest novels and if you bring in your "keepers" they will sign those too! The book fair is open to the public.
