Sophia Nash
Sophia Nash Sophia Nash was born in Switzerland, raised in the United States and France but her heart resides in Regency England.  She is very sorry to tell you that she does not have a Master's Degree in English literature, nor a PhD in English history, although she wishes she did. She has a mere Bachelor's Degree in Communication, which is worthless when it comes to writing about Regency England. Although she does admit, it did help tremendously when she was a Producer/Writer for PM Magazine and the news on WTVJ-Miami, and again when she worked for the European Division of Worldnet Television.

Her career-checkered past also includes a stint on Capitol Hill where she was a Press Secretary for a congressman and also a lobbyist for USIA. And to completely confound readers of her resume, she was the Executive Director of the non-profit Washington International Horse Show for almost a decade, coming full circle with her childhood days of riding horses and competing in the junior west coast riding circuit.

It came as little surprise to her family when she decided to focus on writing a few years ago. It has always been her passion. She maintains that the other jobs were just shadow-careers of her first love. She swears this will be her last career switch. After all, what other job: allows one to work in pajamas, allows one to have ultimate authority over a make-believe world without being confined to a padded cell, gives one the best "career" to trot out at almost any gathering, but alas, has yet to promise the millions a la J.K. Rowling.

Sophia's writing was born of her love of reading, a trait she and her parents shared. It was her father who introduced her to the joys of Jane Austen, the Bronte sisters, Henry James, Willa Cather, and Edith Wharton. Once she had exhausted the works of all her favorite deceased authors, it was just a matter of time before she discovered today's romance novels with their irresistible promise of a happily ever after. Her beloved father gave her two books, one by Mary Balogh, the other by Mary Jo Putney, which inspired her and kept her up all night turning the pages. Her first writing effort, A Secret Passion, was a finalist entry in Romance Writers of America's prestigious Golden Heart Awards- Best Regency in 2002. The judge, an editor for Signet/New American Library/Penguin Putnam purchased the manuscript as part of a two-book contract. And a new career was born.

These days, you can find Sophia blissfully composing her next book or alternatively banging her head against the computer screen cursing technology or a deadline. Other than that, she is the overly proud mother of two children who constantly remind her that food and homework come before anything else. She is also blessed with a husband who supports her in every feasible way. And cleaning the cat box reminds her just how truly important she is in the world, and makes her wonder why on earth she doesn't have a dog. These days, she and her family split their time between Washington, D.C., where she works and procrastinates, and France, where she indulges in her three favorite pastimes: eating sublime fat-laden delicacies, sunbathing, and sleeping!
